A hand copied obituary from an East Grand Forks newspaper (copied by Willard Ramsett) states William worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad as a bridge carpenter (same type job as Addison Pease). He lived most of his life in East Grand Forks,MN., but spent some time in Devils Lake, ND. (He also lived in New London while growing up - don't know what age he was when he came to New London). Isaac Wright of Devils Lake and John Wright of New London are listed as surviving half brothers. This lends credence to an assumption Joan has made that William is the son of Rebecca Fiers Wright Dilley by her first marriage to James Fiers (see appended census reports). Isaac and John are also half brothers to William Fiers' father-in-law Eber Wright - but they likely would not have come to the funeral unless they had grown up together. An early history of Perry Twp., Miami County, Indiana mentions a James Fiers as an early settler (c.1835) (father to William and Rebecca's first husband?). illiam Fiers is listed as one of the first students (1872) of the Pleasant Hill School, New London Twp. Once again the closeness of families supports some of this intermarriage. A daughter of Wright Johnson (son of Birdie Ramsett Johnson) at one time had some Fiers genealogical information. Joan has tried to access this through Mary Lou Johnson, Wright's wife.
