Uncle Ted (he used the name Theodore) went to LaCrosse, Wisconsin after he graduated from high school in Red Wing, c.1916). He worked as a secretary, but played in dance bands evenings and weekends - probably piano or accordion. There were many visits back and forth with his parents and sisters in Red Wing. He was married in LaCrosse in 1920. In a 1922 La Crosse, Wi city directory Theodore and Inga are is listed living at 703 S. 7th St. (occupation, musician). In 1925 they moved to Chicago where he spent the rest of his life. There he gave piano lessons and played in various musical groups as noted in Etta's diary - at the Keystone and the Frolic (night clubs/supper clubs). He also played the organ. Joan and Don visited him once or twice. He and Inga got divorced, but remarried before he died. When he died, my mother Ella Mae went to Chicago and cleaned out his apartment. He had a closet full of his latest record "I'm Still Missing You" and the sheet music. Alas, it never made it to the Hit Parade! He was an extremely clever and creative person, writing music and inventing sound systems. He traveled once to Hollywood to demonstrate a 3-D movie system he had invented. When he visited us he would play the piano, whatever we wanted - by ear. However, he died relatively penniless. He and Inga never had children. He was cremated. A stone was installed for him at the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing, Minnesota in the Johnson family plot.
