SHANK

Sarah Shank Keefer died in the Mexico Church in Miami County, Indiana, December 3, 1893. Sister Sarah .Shank Keefer, age 83 years, 9 months and 29 days, was the wife of Elder Keefer. She was born in Frederick County, Maryland, February 4, 1810. She came to Ohio in an early day, where she was married to David Keefer February 3, 1831. They after united with the church in which she lived a constant member. Soon after the separation occurred they took their stand for the old faith and practiced in which she was faithful to death. They lived together for over 62 years. Having no children of their own they raised several others. Moving to the County in 1849, they settled on a farm where they resided up to this time. Shortly before death she was anointed with oil in the name of the Lord. The Elder, old and feeble, feels the loss of a kind companion, the church a good member and the community a kind neighbor, but all have bright hope for her future.

This is a copy of an obituary sent by Bertha Ramsett Johnson to Lela Ingraham Fiers.
