One of the first things we discovered was that Panama City Beach was in the Central Time Zone which made Bobbie sure that we would arrive before we could check into our condominium. Between traffic and a couple needed stops we arrived and were able to move right in upon our arrival. I was content to get on my computer to see whether the server was as high speed as we were told. Bobbie went to the Grocery Store which was Walmart to get needed supplies and aquaint herself with our new environment.

The next morning Bobbie got me out for a little walk down the main street in front of our condominium to get a view of where we were.

The Emerald Coast

The Emerald Coast

The coast along the panhandle of Florida (we have been told) has been referred to by various names some pejorative and others simply descriptive of the physical world around them. Notice the green tinge in the coloring of the ocean along the coast.

We really didn't know what to expect by spending what many assume to be the worst month of the winter in the panhandle of Florida. Most would think of sun, warmth and the calming lapping of the ocean as it allows its water to breathe upon the sand of the coast. That was nice when we had such benefits but not necessary. What we did want though was quiet and solitude to read and enjoy that time as we pleased.

It was time for Bobbie to do some serious Beach walking which excluded me. We talked about renting a beach wheelchair but never got it done. It is a priority for next year. They will deliver it to your condo and pick it up when you are finished with it.

While we were at the beach we didn't eat out much but there a few exceptions. On this day we had lunch at Reggae J's.

The weather had begun to change and the wind started to howl and blow as President' Day Weekend arrived. We had friends from from Virginia and Florida visiting for the weekend and we were all determined to have a good time.

The next several pictures show you the Calm of the Ocean (gulf) and the quiet tranquility that proceeds the storm. The Warmth of the Sun brings a quiet rest over our bodies allowing that restorative power to return strength to weakness.

The next day was a lazy day and not just because the weather prevented very little activity except inside and contemplating a trip home that would be more difficult than any of us would have ever expected and would have changed if we could have. We went to Pineapple Willy's for lunch and then a restful evening before everyone's departure.

After the girls had left, Neptunus had decided to raise his head and have a little fun with those who doubted his power and might. When one visits the Ocean, he or she encounters the inconsistancy of anger with the rise and fall of the surf. Yet the intensity of an Ocean storm has a certain control over itself that is difficult for most to understand, but as fierce as the surf can be it brings with it a different enlightenment when the wind of the storm and the mist of the ocean hits one's face.

We had decided that we wanted to return next February just to find out our condo was already rented so Bobbie went online and found us a place for next winter. It is at the other end of the beach which should give us a different perspective
